Here are some photos from a first birthday party
that we did earlier this year. We are not fans of over-the-top
children's birthday parties. Kid's don't care, all of those over-the-top
gimmicks are just for the adults anyway. Children's parties are beautiful and fun in their simplicity. It's doesn't cost a fortune to pull of a thoughtful, well-styled party.
Then it's just a few small details.
Simple centerpieces, a handcrafted backdrop, grilled cheese + tomato soup, cake choices and sweet drinks. Done.
We do like to have a really fantastic element at all of our parties, even a small child's birthday party. For this event, we had Sara's husband Jon a potter, create custom faux-bois soup bowls for the tomato soup. These bowls were for the guests to take home as their favor.
It was a really great party, warm & inviting. And the guest of honor had a small cake all to himself. His first taste of cake ever. How could it not be a success?
